The prize has also the purpose of honoring the vast contributions of Karl Pearson, a mathematician, philosopher and a key figure in the development of Mathematical Statistics. The Prize is awarded biennially at the ISI World Statistics Congress and consists of a cash award and travel support.
The award recognizes a research article or book published within the last three decades that has had profound influence on statistical theory; methodology; practice; or applications
- An article or book published on or after January 1, 1983;
- A stand-alone research contribution that has had major influence in one or more of the following: Statistical theory; Statistical methodology; Statistical practice; Application areas
Applicants have to submit a form and send to the ISI office at CBS.
Award and Ceremony
The award consists of a cash award of 5,000 Euros, and the winner will present the Karl Pearson Lecture at the World Statistics Congress (WSC). If the contribution has multiple authors, the cash prize will be divided equally, and travel support, up to 5,000 Euros will be provided for one of the authors to attend the WSC and present the lecture.
